Corporate & Social Responsibility
Poyter is a brand which is empowered by highly skilled but less fortunate craftsmen from third world countries. We empower these less fortunate but highly skilled artisans to create a pair of shoes not to increase their standard of living but also their self-esteem. Poyter always strive to take part in social and corporate responsibilities as a brand and as a company. We do not exploit labour rights for the people who work in our shoe supply chain. Poyter tries to take part in local community programmes to identify opportunities to help deserving people in need by giving charity and doing physical involvement.
We want to create comfortable quality leather shoes that will encourage people to walk instead of using a vehicle. Test and try Poyter shoes and help us achieve low carbon footprints.
Below is our long-term corporate and social responsibility manifesto that we need to leverage upon and make a difference by 2030.
- Reducing carbon footprints
- Improving labour policies
- Participating in fair-trade
- Charitable giving
- Volunteering in the community
- Corporate policies that benefit the environment
- Socially and environmentally conscious investments
Being Part Of The Greener Economy Initiative
Having a greener planet and using renewable energy is a significant area of concern for people these days. Many want to improve their lives and the impact they are causing on the planet. To transition into an economy that is more efficient and smarter about the things they do and how they use them, we need to consider new sources of energy and how we function with mobility.
Many cities want to begin implementing solutions to be more environmentally conscious because it will impact future generations. In addition to this, it will affect the government financially while providing jobs and new skills for those in need. For homeowners, it means being able to stay within your means more efficiently because it will lower utility costs and reduce the negative impacts on the environment.
Creating Less Waste
One significant issue with our environment at the moment is the amount of waste that is created. It does not go away. It ends up in a landfill, gets burned, or gets put into our oceans in many areas. If society moved to more eco-friendly solutions, we would create less waste, and our oceans would be better protected along with the land as well. A helpful example is a plastic. Most plastic is recyclable. However, some classifications are not. Some plastic takes a thousand years to biodegrade, and much of our plastic ends up in the ocean. Right now, this is considered to be one of the biggest issues that we face.
That is why companies have been making new and inventive ways to get rid of our waste. Clothing companies turn water bottles into handbags; jewelry companies take trash from the ocean and turn it into sustainable accessories that look amazing. Certain retail companies have even been creating clothing items from waste.
To create less waste, some countries and cities are pushing harder for a zero-waste future, and they are looking for new ways to get rid of the trash that the planet already has. They don’t want to rely on incineration as it damages the earth, so countries are looking at new technological advances instead. Other countries still burn trash, but this is becoming less common.
Water Usage
Not everyone in the world has water, and many who have it may not realize how fortunate they are to use it daily. In some countries, people have the luxury of drinking five bottles of water a day; in others, mothers have to hike over five miles to fill a single bucket and choose whether their children can brush their teeth. But each country can agree that water waste isn’t helping the planet and only worsens it. Because of that, some cities are trying to save rainwater for outdoor activities like gardening while others have measured out the water they use a day to help the planet and the waste that occurs. Either option you decide to take will help save and reuse valuable water.
The Benefits of Understanding Your Food
Food waste is another area that is an issue, and supermarkets across the globe are ensuring that they have options for creating sustainable meals. Instead of throwing away produce that they can’t use, stores are discounting it so that people can eat healthier without spending more money. Food is also being made in more reusable packaging. Plastic packaging takes years to decompose, and it is harder to get rid of. As a result, companies worldwide are going green and looking for new options to use for food packaging. Glass, in particular, will be used because you can reuse the container after you are done with the product, and that option creates less waste.
Composting is also on the rise because it creates a better option for getting rid of food items that cannot be recycled traditionally. Things like banana peels, eggshells, apple cores, and more can all be turned into compost. It is a much better option for obtaining a greener environment, creating more sustainable opportunities, and making a better choice for the future. It has also been a helpful way for families to develop a closer bond to do it together while trying to strengthen the planet.
Know What It Is You Are Buying
You should assess your house and what it is in it to see how you can have more sustainable solutions for the future. A great example is water bottles. One water bottle can take decades or longer to disappear from our planet. As a result, buying a reusable water bottle would be the best solution to helping the earth create less waste. Tableware is another area of significant destruction, and using reusable options will minimize waste and energy. Compostable and biodegradable cutlery are becoming more prominent now that the environment is becoming more and more at the forefront of people’s minds. In addition to this, you can see stores across the globe utilizing glass and recycled paper to package the items contained in their building.
Lower Utilities
Utilities are an area that many people find costs more and more. People go without lights or water in many places because they can’t pay to keep them on. By adopting greener solutions, utilities will be drastically lowered, and you won’t have that issue anymore. In particular, adopting solar panels is a great way to reduce your utilities and have more flexibility in your life as well. However, the best part is you are helping the planet and becoming a more environmentally conscious person.
Making The Change Is Simple
Making changes to become more ecologically minded isn’t as complicated as people think it is. It would be best if you took what you do now and make small changes. Instead of getting the bags at the grocery store, be more conscious and bring your own. Or bring reusable bags instead. Don’t waste the planet’s resources with plastic. Use glass and a bottle that you can refill. Small changes like this can provide a significant shift in the earth.
